An exciting new digital project Mormon Missionary Diaries has been made available online at Brigham Young University. 376 out of the 575 diaries are now available online. Several general authorities are representing including Hyrum Smith, brother of the Prophet Joseph Smith, whose diaries are hand decorated by his mother Lucy Mack Smith. One of the first two women missionaries Inez Knight Allen is also chosen as one of the 17 women diarists. Student volunteers digitized them between spring 2003 and fall 2004. They provided a valuable services as over 101,000 pages were scanned into Content Dm software.
Some of the General Authority diaries include:
Abraham H. Cannon
Richard R. Lyman
Stayner Richards
Hyrum Smith
Abraham O. Smoot
James E. Talmage (There is an idiosyncrasy in the search use Talmage instead of James E. Talmage.)
Moses Thatcher
Abraham O. Woodruff
I wish to commend Susan Fales and BYU on making this valuable resource available online.
